The race meeting at Snetterton was all going swimmingly well until the second corner of the first race :-( Now the car needs some expensive repairs. And I've started a new Wordpress blog to document my ongoing trials and tribulations.

I've finally got the last few essential bits and pieces done - the cat is fitted into the silencer and it's all back on the car. It sounds no different to before but I won't really know till I get tested at a circuit. I've also got a new toolbox to go into the motorhome which will save quite a bit of time when packing for a race weekend.

I've had a busy week since coming back from skiing in California last Sunday. Unable to rent a motorhome with a towbar so I've been hunting down one to buy. I've also made progress with the exhaust and shoul dhave the car ready to race next weekend.

New race licence, season creeping up on us

It's a new year and there's been no progress in the garage, all the car needs now is a cat. I've had my medical and have got my new 2009 licence back from the MSA. I've also started on a training regime and will be racing on two wheels before the four wheeled season kicks off ...

Another morning spent in the garage - a tweak to the dry sump system, a new oil pressure hose and a bit of a polish.

I got the stud extractors and fitted the billet plates from BigCC racing. Now I need to start thinking seriously about fitting this stupid cat ...

I've finally got off my backside and started fettling the car. I got the suspension alignment sorted and made a start fitting the nice billet blanking plates to the engine.

Oulton Park Races

Testing was horrendously wet but the weather cleared up and we had 2 dry races. The gearbox got worse during the testing sessions so we did an engine swap in the pit garage on Friday evening. I really enjoyed both races and feel I'm starting to make the transition from trackday driver to racer.

Preprations for Oulton Park

Next weekend's Oulton Park and I hadn't really been out to the garage since getting back from Silverstone. I was investigating new engines last week but without much real progress. Nice to be out in the garage on Sunday with only minor tinkering to do! Just a few hours out there and the car's ready to go. I've been doing a bit of shopping - gaskets etc. ready for the engine swap and have just agreed to buy a low mileage (300!) 2007 engine from Holeshot Racing, the plan is Jack's going to deliver it to Oulton on Friday.

Survived the Silverstone weekend!

Had a great weekend up at Silverstone. Still need to go a bit faster but the car's working better with the suspension changes and having corner weighted it on Friday afternoon. On the down side 4th gear's knackered so I'll need to get that sorted some time.

I've finally got the parts together - reverse kit, drive shafts etc. Lots of work to do though and only three days till I need the car together for Silverstone.

All looking good till I get a phone call saying the pinion nut won't go on the new pinion shaft as it's a left hand thread and the new shaft is right handed. Very rare apparently. I'm well pleased of course.

Road & Race Transmissions don't have a nut with a right handed thread but reckon I should just be able to get one from Ford. Yeah, right ...

Finished off the ARB, new connectors for front lighting loom

I've found someone locally to modify my propshaft and get new splines on my existing drive shafts. Also found someone to swap the diff crownwheel and pinion locally. While waiting for these I finished off the ARB and replaced the front lighting loom bullet connectors with some nice 6 way connector blocks.

Lots of work over the weekend hacking out the old diff mounts, a couple of chassis tubes and fabricating new mounts for the replacement diff.

No sign of a diff yet although I think I have tracked one down. No Donington for me next weekend :-( Made a start on a front anti-roll bar.
